The Practice waiting room has much useful information.

The first you probably notice is the noticeboards. These are changed on a monthly basis by members of our patient participation group. Once you take a seat you can see the screen that you watch for your call to your appointment. This also carries useful information on a range of subjects, but there are many other useful and informative items in the waiting room. Take a look at the items below and if you need any help using them, just ask the receptionists.

The automated booking in system.

The new booking in system is very easy to use. simply touch the screen to tell the system that you want to book in and you will be presented with the option of 'Finger print' or 'Date of Birth'. At the moment just use the 'Date of birth' option. Next it will ask you 'Male or Female'? After that it will ask for 'which month were you born in'?. Next it will ask for the 'Date you were born'. If you have more than one appointment for the day it will show you the appointments. Touch the one you want and the jobs done. Touch the 'clear screen' button to remove all your information and we suggest that you use the hand gell after completing this stage to kill any infection that may have been present on the touch screen.

The Information Kiosk

The information kiosk is also simple to use and all are welcome to make use of it whether you have an appointment or not. Touch the screen to to wake it up and you will be presented with a screen similar to that on the right. Following the menu buttons will find you information from hundreds of health related websites. You can find both medical information on most topics or help and support groups for most conditions. Much information is available for carers of people with medical or mental health problems. We suggest that you use the hand gell when you have finished to kill any infection that may have been present on the touch screen.

The Blood Pressure Monitor

Many of you will have been used to seeing the blood pressure monitor in the corner of the waiting room. However, we have now moved it into the corridor to the consulting rooms. Many routine appointments require that you have your blood pressure checked and by using this machine you may save some time in your appointment slot. Not that you have to have an appointment to use it, some patients need to keep a track of their day to day blood pressure for various reasons and so they are welcome to use it. If you have any problems ask a receptionist and they would be glad to explain how to use it.
